Skin Whitening Home Remedies

Skin whitening is a huge industry today with new products popping up on the shelves of pharmacies and cosmetic shops every day.

Many people who have naturally dark skin desire to lighten their skin color overall; and there are also others who are looking for a more localized skin whitening treatment just to fade out any dark spots or hyper-pigmentation.

There are commercially developed skin whitening products containing natural plant extracts as well as there are several home remedies, which have been used for centuries.

These remedies can be easily prepared at home and they generally tend to be more effective, since the ingredients are freshly used in their natural forms and therefore they are more potent.

Rose Hip Oil

Rose hip oil is a popular ingredient in countless skin whitening products and it works great not only for fading out age spots, but it is also recommended for the treatment of scars, acne and wrinkles.

This amazing oil works because of its incredibly high vitamin C and vitamin A content. In fact, rosehips contain over 25 times more vitamin C them oranges or any other citrus fruits.

It is best to use it in its natural form, preferably if it is organic and cold pressed, since it will mean that it is not contaminated by harmful chemical compounds and it also hasn’t been heated.

When rose hip oil is extracted by steam distillation and therefore it is exposed to heat it tends to lose over 50% of its nutritional value.

Rose hip oil can be added to masks, to your regular daily moisturizer or it can be applied alone to your skin in small amounts.

Sandalwood and Rose Water Mask

Apply it to your facial skin just before you go to sleep. Leave it on overnight and wash it off in the morning. Use this mask 2 to 3 times every week.

Tomato

Using sliced tomato directly on your facial skin or adding tomato juice to your face masks is known to significantly lighten the skin tone when used regularly.

For example you can add it to sandalwood powder instead of rose water. Fresh tomato juice can be also used instead of your regular facial wash for cleansing your skin.

It is rich in alpha hydroxy acid, which means that it will not only lighten your skin, but it will provide vital nutrients that are important for the maintenance of a flawlessly even skin tone.

Tomato Leaf Essential Oil

You can add a couple of drops of tomato leaf essential oil to a carrier oil, such as jojoba, coconut, extra virgin olive, sweet almond, grape seed or rose hip oil and you can apply it to the skin each time you cleanse an tone your face.

Alternatively, if you desire to use it on your body, apply it after you take a bath or have a shower, while the skin is still damp and warm.
